LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
On May 9, 2026, members voted to accept a new four-year agreement (effective July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2029).
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- General wage increases in each year of the agreement
- Increases to long service allowances
- New paid personal leave day
- One-time signing bonus
Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Seine River School Division Trades - Local 143 had an opportunity to foward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a local meeting on March 1, 2025. The meetings were well attended and we thank members for their submissions.
Your Bargaining Committee is in the process of reviewing the proposals and will compile a proposal package.
The first bargaining meeting took place on June 19, 2025.
Your Bargaining Committee exchanged proposals with the employer at the first bargaining meeting on June 19, 2025.
Regular negotiations meetings took place with the employer. Discussions largely focused on non-monetary items such as employee rights and safety issues.
The final bargaining date for 2025 took place on December 16, 2025.
On January 30, 2026, your Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement and recommended members accept it.
On February 19, 2026, members voted to reject the tentative agreement. After the vote, the Bargaining Committee notified the employer of the results and requested a return to the bargaining table.
Following the rejection of the original offer, your Bargaining Committee met with the employer and, with the assistance of a conciliator, reached a tentative agreement.
The Committee recommended acceptance of the agreement.
A ratification vote took place on May 9, 2026.
