LATEST BARGAINING NEWS

On September 3, 2024, a tentative agreement was reached with the employer. The Local 446 Bargaining Committee recommended acceptance of this agreement.

An online information session about the tentative agreement was held September 17 and an in-person ratification vote took place on September 18, where members voted to accept a three-year agreement.

Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of Duke of Marlborough School - Local 446 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a meeting on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

The Bargaining Committee then worked to pull together these proposals into a bargaining package to share with the employer.

Negotiations began with the employer on January 18 and 26, 2023. A meeting set for February 22, 2023 had to be rescheduled. Negotiations continued on June 21, 2023.

On October 26, 2023, the employer presented an offer that the Committee felt was unsatisfactory and unfair. The Committee recommended to members that they reject the offer.

At a ratification vote on November 30, 2023 members strongly rejected the employer's offer.

The Bargaining Committee resumed negotiations with the employer on January 22, 2024 and the two sides agreed to seek the assistance of a third-party conciliator.

The Committee recommended members reject the employer's latest offer, and vote for a strike mandate, which members did on May 16, 2024.

The Bargaining Committee requested the employer return to the table to resume negotiations as soon as possible.

The Committee met with the employer along with the aid of a third-party conciliator on July 3, 2024 in an attempt to reach a deal at the table. Unfortunately, the two sides remained at an impasse and negotiations were put on hold until the new school year began in September 2024.
