The employer tabled another 'final offer' at conciliation today. This latest "final offer" still leaves more than one-third of members behind with a wage increase of just 9%.
This offer, combined with employer pressure to call a vote, is yet another attempt to divide us.

Throughout this strike, our union has stuck together to stand up for all members.
Our Bargaining Committee will not let this employer dictate our strategy and tactics.  We will bring an offer to members for a vote when the employer tables one that provides fair wage increases for ALL members.

Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of MPI - Component 10 (Locals 62-68) had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving the collective agreement at a series of meetings throughout Manitoba during the month of November, including a hybrid meeting on November 17, 2022.

The Bargaining Committee met on Tuesday, February 14 to finalize the bargaining proposal package.

They began negotiations with the employer on May 15, 16, 17, 24, 25 and 26, and continued on June 20 and 21, 2023.

The Manitoba Public Insurance - Locals 62-68 Bargaining Committee was scheduled to continue negotiations with the employer on August 16, 17, and 1, and September 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21, 2023.

On July 21, 2023 the Manitoba Public Insurance - Locals 62-68 Bargaining Committee received a final offer from the employer on Friday.
The Bargaining Committee beleived the offer was unacceptable and recommends that members reject the offer and provide the Committee with a strike mandate.
The Committee held a number of strike vote meetings across the province between August 8 and August 17.

On August 17, 2023, the ballot were counted and MPI members overwhelmingly rejected the employer's offer. They also gave their Bargaining Committee a strong strike mandate.

The Bargaining Committee returned to the table with the employer on Tuesday, August 22 and Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

On the evening of August 23, 2023, all MPI members were invited to an online strike preparation meeting.

A full walkout strike began at 7:30 am, August 28, 2023.
