LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
On May 28, 2024, members ratified a new four-year collective agreement (effective April 1, 2024 - March 31, 2028).
The new agreement includes significant wage increases, with an average increase for most members of between 24% to 30% over the life of the agreement. The wage increases include general wage increases, market adjustments, and rural factor adjustments.
It also includes a new 15-year long service step, a new 25-year long service step, shift premium increases, the addition of two wellness days, and an increase for vacation and income protection accrual rates.
The next step in concluding the collective agreement is to work with the employer to finalize and sign-off the document, which could take some time.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Technical/Professional - Locals 408-411 and 420 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a number of meetings throughout March and into April 2024.
All members were encouraged to come out, discuss their priorities and concerns, and vote on which proposals to bring forward to this round of bargaining.
The Bargaining Committee then worked to pull together the proposals into a bargaining package, which was presented to the employer when negotiations began in July.
Negotiations with the employer took place regularly in September, October and into November. Talks focused on non-monetary items, like hours of work.
The Committee continued to meet with the employers to discuss wage standardization and market adjustments. These talks were related to agreements reached during our last round of negotiations.
Discussions at the bargaining table shifted to focus on monetary items.
In April, the market adjustment and wage standardization process from the last round of bargaining was completed.
On May 13, 2025, your Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer. The Committee recommended recommending acceptance.
