LATEST BARGAINING NEWS

The employer recently came to the table with a monetary mandate and presented it as a final offer.

The Bargaining Committee is strongly recommending that members reject the offer and provide the Committee with a strike mandate.

The Committee will be holding a number of meetings over the next few weeks at in-store locations to share details of the offer. There will be a presentation by the Bargaining Committee at each meeting, and members will be able to ask any questions they might have.

Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of GOLICO - Component 9 (Locals 56 - 61) had an opportunity to elect some of their Bargaining Committee and put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a meeting on Thursday, January 27, 2022. A GOLICO Component meeting was held on February 25, 2022 and the Bargaining Committee met to go over bargaining proposals on March 23 and 24, 2022.

The GOLICO - Component 9 (Locals 56 - 61) Bargaining Committee continued to review bargaining proposals on May 26 and 27, 2022.

The Bargaining Committee met again to review the Component's bargaining proposal package on September 22 and 23, 2022, in preparation for exchaning proposal packages with the employer on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Negotiations continued on October 26 and 27 an November 1, 2 and 3, 2022. 

The Bargaining Committee met with the employer during the last week of October and first week of November 2022 and the two sides made significant progress, agreeing to most non-monetary items like contract language and working conditions.

The Bargaining Committee met with the employer met on January 17, 2023. At this point, the employer has not presented a funding mandate to begin discussions re: monetary items like wages and benefits.

Bargaining began again on March 20, 21 and 22, and continued on April 18, 19, and 20, 2023, and May 15 and 16, 2023.
