This past Monday, MGEU members of Southeast Child & Family Services (Local 395) ratified a new two-year collective agreement (effective April 6, 2013 to April 4, 2015).

The contract covers about 80 members and includes a general wage increase of 2% in each year and a 5% special wage adjustment for Social Worker 5s. It also features three new aboriginal stat holidays, new benefits which allow members to use sick leave to attend medical and dental appointments, the continuation of the defined contribution pension plan, as well as new long-term disability benefits.

In the next couple of days, the contract will be signed by the union and the employer, then printed and distributed to members in the new year. Members of Local 395 are encouraged to update their contact information with the union to ensure they receive a copy of the new contract.
