Over the past few weeks, MGEU members from the University College of the North have been casting their ballots to either accept or reject a settlement offer put forward by the employer last month.

This afternoon, the ballots were counted. The result: members have voted to accept the offer, which addresses a number of areas. The new 4-year agreement includes a 2% wage increase in each year of the agreement, as well as two, one-half unpaid days off (one in 2016 and one in 2017). The bargaining committee was also able to push back employee-paid parking until 2017, at a much lower rate than the employer originally proposed. There are increases to vision and drug benefits as well as the health spending account, and some language improvements regarding family-related leave.

Representatives from the MGEU will now work at getting the agreement finalized and signed, before it's printed and distributed to members. UCN members are encouraged to update their contact information here to ensure they receive a copy of the new contract.
