The MGEU is pleased to welcome our newest members -- Macdonald Youth Services (MYS, Coach Program) Local 453 -- who ensure young Winnipeg students struggling within the existing educational system get the support they need to reach their potential.

"Like so many of us at the MGEU, these are folks who care for a living,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “They believe deeply in what they do and decided that the MGEU is the best way to have a strong voice not only within their workplace, but out there with the public. Publicly-funded services like the Coach program are an investment in the future of our kids."

Members of the MYS Coach Program are just the latest of many working in Manitoba's community-based social services sector, to step up and form their own MGEU Local in the past year.

"The MGEU already represents members who work in Macdonald Youth Services' Alternative Parent and Crisis Stabilization programs," Gawronsky added, "so Local 453 is such a natural addition. Together, we can accomplish so much more than on our own."
