Members of Nisichawayasihk Personal Care Home - Local 367 ratified a new five-year collective agreement today.

Last February, members voted in favour of potential strike action due to the fact they make significantly less than workers at other Manitoba care homes even though they have the same training and job descriptions.

The new agreement will bring wages closer to parity with these other workers and also includes increases to weekend shift premiums as well as a wage re-opener provision should the employer receive the required funding to further reduce the wage gap.

The Bargaining Committee encourages members who have not yet signed a membership application form to contact the MGEU Resource Centre to ensure they receive a copy of the collective agreement once it’s printed.
