In response to a resolution endorsed by members at our last Convention, today the MGEU is launching their latest membership campaign, Healthy Minds at Work.

The campaign aims to engage MGEU members on workplace mental health, raising awareness of mental health as a workplace issue, helping members have conversations about mental health, connecting members with mental health resources and supports, and providing members with tools and information to advocate for employer action on mental health and wellness at work.

MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky encourages all members to visit the campaign website at HealthyMindsatWork.ca.

“Most of us spend a majority of our waking hours at work. Our jobs and our mental health are connected," she said."We need to start taking workplace mental health as seriously as we take traditional, physical health and safety issues."

The campaign will have new components added to it throughout the year and beyond. Initially, members can post the Healthy Minds at Work campaign poster on the union’s bulletin board in their workplace, and share content on their social media platforms.

“We are looking forward to bringing meaningful change to our workplaces and improving members' lives through this campaign,” Gawronsky said. “Given the stressful times we're in right now, as the pandemic changes the way we work and live, the timing couldn't be better.”
