At a Board meeting held this morning, long-time MGEU activist, Kimberley Lynn, was elected to serve as the union’s new 2nd Vice-President.

Kimberley is a Distance Library Clerk at Assiniboine Community College (ACC), working with off-campus instructors and students to ensure they receive the materials they need.

Her union activism began in 2007 when she was first elected as President of Local 71. Over the years, she has served as the MGEU Post-Secondary Education Component Chair, Component Director, Area 3 Director, and Board member.

An MGEU Membership Training and Apprenticeship Program (MTAP) opportunity in 2011/12 provided Kimberley with valuable first-hand experience advocating on behalf of members to resolve their workplace issues, while  also expanding her knowledge of the union.

The 2nd VP position became vacant earlier this month when another long-time MGEU activist, Doug Troke, resigned from the role upon taking a new position with the union. As per the MGEU Constitution, officer vacancies are filled from and by the Board of Directors between Convention elections.
