Most MGEU Locals have terms in their collective agreement to allow for a brief 10-15 minute union introduction with new hires. With this in mind, the MGEU has streamlined the new member orientation process with a new member application form that can be filled out online; a new orientation video (watch below); and some new tools to help workplace reps introduce the union.
"Welcoming new MGEU members, and getting them to sign an application form has always been an important responsibility for our Local representatives. We're really excited to launch this new way to make it even easier to welcome new members, and we think the online application will be a real time-saver for everyone," said MGEU President, Kyle Ross.
The brand new, simplified U and your Union PDF slideshow presentation and speaking notes (which were emailed and mailed to all MGEU workplace reps in the last week) were created to help lead a group presentation or a one-on-one meeting.
The package for MGEU workplace reps also includes some 'How-To’ bulletin board posters about signing an application form and Local contact cards for activists to personalize and hand out to members.
