The Assiniboine Community College/Red River College Central Table - Locals 71 and 73 Bargaining Committee continued negotiations with the employer on February 13 and
14, 2018. On February 27, talks stalled over
the issue of workloads and both sides agreed to jointly
Bargaining resumed with the aid of a third-party conciliator on Wednesday, May 30, Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1, 2018. The next bargaining date is scheduled for Thursday, July 27, 2018.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
In June 2016, the employers requested that the ACC/RCC Central Table Bargaining Committee be ready to begin negotiations in January 2017, in the hopes of achieving new agreements before the current ones expired. The Committee developed a timeline with this in mind.
Members had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for the new agreements throughout October and November 2016. The Bargaining Committee and many workplace stewards also attended a Bargaining Workshop in December 2016.
However, as 2016 drew to a close, it became increasingly apparent that the employers would not be
receiving a mandate from government for some time.
Given this, the Committee continued to develop its proposal package, with plans to exchange proposals with the employers in September 2017.
The Assiniboine Community College/Red River College Central Table - Locals 71 and 73 Bargaining Committee met on Wednesday, August 30 to finalize the proposal package.
Negotiations resumed in the new year on Wednesday, January 3 and continued on January 17, 2018.
