LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
In May 2018, the government proclaimed Bill 29 (the Health Sector Bargaining Review Act), and they have taken the position that bargaining will be put on hold until representation votes within the health care sector are concluded.At this point, the union anticipates votes to be called in the next few months.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
With collective agreements set to expire March 31, 2018, the Bargaining Committee asked all members to mail or email in their bargaining proposal(s) prior to 4:00 pm on Friday February 2, 2018.
When filling out the form, either via hard copy or email, members were asked to provide their contact information so the Committee could to follow-up if with any questions.Members had the opportunity to share their ideas and proposals for improving their collective via mail or email until Friday, February 2, 2018.
The Bargaining Committee then collated and reviewed all submitted proposals and brought them forward at Local meetings being scheduled throughout February. Members also had the option to bring their completed proposal form directly to the meeting.The Bargaining Committee then worked throughout the spring to put a package together to present to the employer.
