LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
In May 2018, the government proclaimed Bill 29 (the Health Sector
Bargaining Review Act), and they have taken the position that bargaining
will be put on hold until representation votes within the health care
sector are concluded.
Health care members will be voting electronically for which
union they want to represent them into the future from Thursday, August 8
until Thursday, August 22, 2019.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
With collective agreements set to expire March 31, 2018, the Bargaining Committee asked all members to mail or email in their bargaining proposal(s) prior to 4:00 pm on Friday February 2, 2018.
When filling out the form, either via hard copy or email, members were asked to provide their contact
information so the Committee could follow-up if with any questions.
After February 2, 2018, the Bargaining Committee collated and reviewed all submitted
proposals and brought them forward at Local meetings scheduled throughout the month. Members also had the option to bring their completed proposal
form directly to the meetings.
The Bargaining Committee then worked throughout the spring to put a package together to present to the employer.
