2021-22 Membership Education Course Guide now available, online courses to continue this fall
Sep 10, 2021
Despite the ongoing challenge of pandemic health restrictions, MGEU’s elected Workplace Reps will still have the opportunity to acquire the skills they need – it will just involve learning-at-home this fall.
“Last week, the MGEU Board decided that we will continue with strictly online courses into fall 2021,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “With the COVID situation continuing to evolve over the next several months, we’ll be re-assessing regularly as to when and how we can safely begin holding in-person courses.”
She said the union piloted their first online course in October 2020 and since then, more than 150 members have been virtually trained.
“As the pandemic continued into 2021, we moved all of our core courses online and for many, it became a more accessible way to attend. Based on this positive feedback, we’ll be offering both in-person and online courses going forward.”
Workplace Reps can review the newly released 2021-22 Membership Education Course Guide and log into their account on THE SOURCE, to register. They should also watch their inbox or mailbox for news of courses as they become available (sent out eight weeks in advance of the start date.)
For those who don’t hold an elected position, You and Your Union sessions -- designed for those MGEU members who are curious about exactly how their union works on a day-to-day basis -- will also be returning in 2022 as long as it’s safe to hold in-person meetings.
