The ballots were counted yesterday and MGEU Technical/Professional members (Interlake-Eastern T/P - Local 411, Southern T/P - Locals 410 and 420, and Prairie Mountain T/P Locals 408 and 409) have delivered a strong strike mandate to their Bargaining Committee.
“Our members have waited long enough and deserve to be treated with respect for their hard work. The last five years in health care have been an immense struggle,” said MGEU President Kyle Ross. “It’s time for our members to get a good deal.”
“We will continue to meet with the employer. We believe that this decisive strike mandate shows the strength of our resolve and hope it signals to the employer that they need to accelerate the bargaining process and move it to a positive conclusion,” Ross added.
Members of the Technical/Professional Component include a wide range of health care professionals, including community mental health workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, midwives and home care case coordinators.
