As we told you when we provided a bargaining update in late January, we have faced significant challenges at the bargaining table since we began bargaining in November.

The Employer has demanded that we roll back a number of benefits currently in the Collective Agreement and, although we have succeeded in getting them to pull back on some of these, a number of such demands remain on the bargaining table.

Also, they have tabled a wage offer that is inadequate and does not reflect the new funding they have received from the Government to boost wages.

Just recently, we agreed to meet with a conciliator – a third party – to assist us in reaching an agreement. Unfortunately, these talks have not been successful.

We will be holding a vote on the Employer’s most recent offer.

We are asking members to reject the offer and provide us with a strong strike mandate.

We believe that rejecting the offer and taking a stand is the only way that we will be able to get a fair deal. Please review the highlight sheet in advance of the meeting.
