Seine River School Division custodians (MGEU Local 143) voted yesterday to accept a new four-year agreement (July 2021 - June 2025) – ending a strike that lasted a little over two weeks.

Members – who will return to work on Thursday – will see general wage increases ranging from around 16% to just over 20% over four years.

“The Bargaining Committee always knew that a deal could be reached at the bargaining table, and with the assistance of a conciliator, that was achieved. It’s just unfortunate that these MGEU members had to take strike action for that to happen,” said MGEU President Kyle Ross.

Other highlights of the agreement include increases in overtime and callout provisions, long-service allowance, as well as family-related leave.

In a message sent to members of the Local, the Bargaining Committee thanked everyone for their patience, perseverance, and solidarity as they stood firm together in their fight for fairness.
