LATEST BARGAINING NEWS

On May 12, 2025, members voted to ratify their new 42-month collective agreement (effective October 1, 2024 - March 31, 2028).

Highlights include:

  • Improvements to bereavement leave including a broader definition of family and access to leave in the event of the loss of a service animal
  • Improvements to sick leave, an increase to meal allowances and mileage
  • More time allocated for union orientation of new hires

The next step in concluding the collective agreement is to work with the employer to finalize and sign-off the document, which could take some time.


Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of Manitoba Museum – Local 133 had the opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

The Bargaining Committee then pulled these proposals into a package to present to the employer.

On September 18, 2024 the Bargaining Committee finalized the proposals package. The Committee exchanged propoals with the employer on September 25, 2024.

The first bargaining meeting between the Bargaining Committee and the employer took place on October 11, 2024.

Bargaining continued at meetings in November and December, where discussions focused on both monetary and non-monetary items.

The next bargaining meeting took place on January 20, 2025.

Your Bargaining Committee held a caucus on March 6, 2025 and negotiations with the employer continued in April. 

In late April, your Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer.

An info session and ratification vote was held on May 12.
