LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
On September 29, 2025, members at Red River College Polytechnic (Local 73) ratified a new three-year collective agreement (effective June 14, 2025 - June 16, 2028).
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- General wage increases in each year of the agreement
- A new max step for instructors, and a one-time automatic step progression
- Increases to some benefits and shift and weekend premiums
The next step in concluding the collective agreement is to work with the employer to finalize and sign-off the document, which could take some time.
Members are encouraged to make sure the MGEU has their current contact information to receive a link to the new collective agreement once it is available.

Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Red River College - Local 73 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement on October 21, 2024.
The Bargaining Committee compiled these proposals into a bargaining package to present to the employer.
Bargaining began in early April 2025 and continued on a weekly basis throughout the summer.
By the end of summer, discussions on non-monetary items had concluded and discussions shifted to monetary items including wages and benefits.
On September 17, 2025, the Bargaining Committee and employer reached a tentative agreement, which the committee is recommending members accept.
An info session took place on September 25, 2025, to provide members with an opportunity to learn about the agreement and ask any questions. A ratification vote followed the meeting.
