Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of Canadian Base Operators - Local 449 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement on January 9, 2025.

The Bargaining Committee then pulled these proposals together into a package.

In March, the Committee reached out to the employer to discuss the Essential Services Agreement (ESA). After discussions, it was determined there is no requirement to enter into an ESA for this round of bargaining.

The first bargaining meeting took place June 20, 2025, where packages were exchanged between the Bargaining Committee and the employer.

Negotiations continued on August 20, 2025, where non-monetary items were discussed. In October 2025, discussions shifted from non-monetary to monetary items.

In late April 2026, the employer presented their final offer to the Bargaining Committee.

This offer was shared with members at a meeting on May 12, 2026. The Bargaining Committee  recommended that members reject the employer's final offer.

If an agreement cannot be reached with the employer, the next step is binding arbitration.
