On May 4, 2026, members voted to ratify a new four-year collective agreement (effective July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2029).
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- General wage increases in each year of the agreement, plus a special wage adjustment in year 4
- Increase from one to two personal days per school year
The next step in concluding the collective agreement is to work with the employer to finalize and sign-off the document, which could take some time.

Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Seine River School Division, Support - Local 144 had an opportunity to put forward proposals to be considered in the next round of bargaining at a meeting on March 3, 2025. The meetings were well attended and we thank members for their submissions.
Your Bargaining Committee then reviewed the proposals and compiled a proposal package, which was shared with the employer on June 19, 2025.
Regular negotiations meetings took place with the employer. Discussions largely focused on non-monetary items such as employee rights and safety issues.
On January 30, 2026, your Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement and recommended members accept it.
On February 19, 2026, members voted to reject the tentative agreement.
After the vote, the Bargaining Committee notified the employer of the results and requested a return to the bargaining table.
In mid-March, both parties agreed to move to conciliation. After a conciliator was selected, conciliation took place on April 21 and 27, 2026.
Following the rejection of the original offer, the Bargaining Committee met with the employer and with the assistance of a conciliator (neutral third party agreed to between the union and employer), reached a tentative agreement.
A ratification vote took place on May 4, 2026.
