LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
On March 24, 2026, members of Main Street Project - Local 136 ratified a new four-year collective agreement (effective April 1, 2026 - March 31, 2030).
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- General wage increases in each year of the agreement
- New long service steps (15 years and 25 years)
- Increased sick leave accrual rates
The next step in concluding the collective agreement is to work with the employer to finalize and sign-off the document, which could take some time.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Main Street Project - Local 136 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a proposal meeting on May 28, 2025.
Bargaining began in July 2025 and continued steadily throughout the next months and into 2026.
Negotiations initially focused on non-monetary items and then shifted to monetary items.
Throughout bargaining, discussions about an Essential Service Agreement took place at the same time.
On Friday, March 6, 2026, the Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer. They recommended members accept the agreement.
A ratification vote took place on March 24.
