At the March 14 MGEU Board of Directors meeting, two new vice-presidents were elected: JP Lapointe as 1st Vice-President and Jordan King as 4th Vice-President.
JP Lapointe, 1st Vice-President
JP is an instructor in the Web Development Full Stack program in the Continuing Education department at Red River College in Winnipeg.
In addition to being the 1st Vice-President, JP is also the Chair of the Constitution, Bylaw & Structure Committee, Vice-President of Local 73, and a Risk & Strategy Committee member.
Prior to becoming First Vice-President, JP was MGEU’s 4th Vice-President. In the years since his first union position as Steward in 2004, he has served on local, component, and area committees in membership and chair capacities.
The 1st Vice-President position became vacant when MGEU activist Cris Quon retired.
Jordan King, 4th Vice-President
Jordan is an Assistant Store Manager at the Manitoba Liquor Mart in Flin Flon. In her position, she not only aides in management processes while delegating tasks and responsibilities, but is also the Health and Safety rep.
She is currently enrolled with the University of Manitoba where she will be completing her Certificate in Applied Management (CAM) within 2025.
Jordan is engaged with our union in multiple ways, including as President of Local 56 and Area Director of GOLICO Area 1, Chairperson of the Young Members’ Committee, and a member of the Risk & Strategy Committee.
The 4th Vice-President position became vacant when JP Lapointe was elected to the position of 1st Vice-President. As per the MGEU Constitution, officer vacancies are filled from and by the Board of Directors between Convention elections.
