The MGEU has donated $25,000 through the union's Humanitarian Fund to the Canadian Red Cross to help Manitoba families impacted by wildfires.

Every $1 donated will become $3 with contributions matched by both the Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba, and will provide immediate and ongoing relief to support evacuees and the communities hosting them - including recovery and resilience efforts.

The upheaval caused by the crippling wildfires has displaced more than 17,000 people, primarily from northern communities.

"We want our fellow Manitobans to know that we're here for them. There will still be so much support needed, but we wanted to provide some immediate relief to the many challenges they are facing," said MGEU President, Kyle Ross.

Members from across the province are encouraged to make a personal donation at give.redcross.ca before June 27, 2025 -- which is the last date that both the federal and provincial government will match donations.
