With more than half of all members entering a new cycle of collective bargaining in the coming year, the MGEU Board of Directors recently approved enhancements to the union’s strike pay to provide even more support for members on the picket line.

The Key Changes:

  • Weeks 1-4 of strike action: The maximum weekly regular MGEU strike pay has increased from $500 to $550.
  • Week 5+ of strike action: The maximum will increase further, up to $650 per week, after four full weeks of regular strike action.

Please note that all strike pay is tax-free.

Complete details about the union’s strike pay changes can be found in Article 5.3.2.4 of the latest edition of the MGEU Policy and Procedures Manual.
