LATEST BARGAINING NEWS
On August 21, 2024 members of Career Connections - Local 142 voted to ratify a new four-year agreement.
Some highlights of the agreement are:
- General wage increases
- Select special wage adjustments
- Improved bereavement leave
- Improved language for part-time workers
The next steps are to finalize the agreement with the employer and sign-off the document. This may take some time to complete.
Members will receive an email when the finalized agreement is posted on the website.
Overview of Bargaining So Far
Members of Career Connections - Local 142 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a meeting on February 26, 2024.
The Bargaining Committee then worked to pull together these proposals into a package to present to the employer.
Negotiations began with the employer on July 8, 2024, with six more bargaining dates scheduled throughout the month.
On July 31, 2024 the Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer on July 31, 2024.
A ratification vote meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st from 4:30 - 5:30 pm in the MGEU Brandon Boardroom at 1665 Parker Blvd.
On August 21, members voted to accept the new agreement.
