After a tough several months of bargaining, members of Manitoba Public Insurance - Component 10 (Locals 62-68) ratified a new two-year collective agreement last night.

Before negotiations even began, the government wrote to MPI setting out a two-year bargaining mandate which included a 0% compensation increase for each of the two years. This made the negotiating process very difficult for both sides.

On January 25, 2022 the employer presented the Bargaining Committee with a final offer that includes monetary provisions for both employees working from home and those working from MPI premises. It also includes benefit enhancements and extends employment security provisions.

The agreement expires in September 2022, at which time the Bargaining Committee believes they will be able to return to the table almost immediately, under new and better circumstances.

The Bargaining Committee encourages members who have not yet signed a membership application form to contact the MGEU Resource Centre to ensure they receive a copy of the collective agreement once it’s printed.
