As post-secondary students return to school this fall in preparation for their future careers, we have an opportunity to reflect on the future we want for our province and how we get there.

On August 19, 2025, members at Manitoba Centennial Centre (Local 125) ratified a new three-year collective agreement (effective June 2, 2024 - May 29, 2027).

We are very sad to share the news that our former president, Bill Ridgeway, passed away suddenly on June 18, 2025. Bill was president of the MGEU (then MGEA) from 1973-76.

On June 26, 2025, members of the Winnipeg School Division (WSD) Educational Support – Local 460 ratified a new four-year collective agreement (effective July 2, 2024 – June 30, 2028).   

On June 26, 2025, members at Swan Valley School Division – Local 463 ratified a new two-year collective agreement (effective June 26, 2025 to June 30, 2027). 

On June 25, 2025, members at St. Norbert Personal Care Home - Local 368 ratified a new four-year collective agreement (effective June 27, 2024 - June 26, 2028).

Members at Assiniboine Medical Clinic - Local 462 ratified their first collective agreement on June 25, 2025.

On June 23, 2025, members of COR Enterprises Inc. - Local 155 voted to ratify a new four-year collective agreement.

This week, MGEU members in Winnipeg School Division (WSD) – Local 460 voted overwhelmingly to give their Bargaining Committee a strike mandate.

The MGEU has donated $25,000 through the union's Humanitarian Fund to the Canadian Red Cross to help Manitoba families impacted by wildfires.

Members of the Technical Professional Component in Locals 408, 409, 410, 411, 420 ratified a new 4-year collective agreement on May 28, 2025.

Last evening, members of Rod McGillivary Memorial Care Home - Local 447 voted to accept a new three-year collective agreement.

On May 26, 2025 members of MASC Adjustors in Locals 359, 360, 361 and 362 voted to accept a new three-year collective agreement.

MGEU members working at Métis Child, Family and Community Services (CFCS) and Michif Child and Family Services (CFS) have secured wage parity through binding arbitration.

The 2025 SAFE Roads campaign reminds motorists across the province to reduce their speed and drive with extra caution as spring brings more workers to Manitoba roadways.

On May 12, 2025 members of Manitoba Museum - Local 133 voted to accept a new 42-month collective agreement (effective October 1, 2024 - March 31, 2028).

On May 6, 2025 members of Dakota Ojibway Child & Family Services - Locals 435, 436 and 437, ratified a new four-year collective agreement (effective March 24, 2023 - March 24, 2027).
